A boy who was critically injured when he fell from a height at a residential construction site in Perth has died.

Twelve-year-old Joshua Field was rushed to Perth Children’s Hospital after the incident in the south-eastern suburb of Maddington on Monday night but his life support machine has now been turned off.

His sister, Charnt’e Turner, paid tribute to her brother on social media, saying the family had lost “a beautiful soul”.

“My 12-year-old brother Joshy was injured [badly] after playing on a construction site, shortly after getting rushed to hospital and fighting for his life he [sadly] didn’t make it,” she wrote.

She said on a fundraising website that the family would be donating Joshua’s organs.

“He is a hero even tho [sic] he never made it,” Ms Turner said.

“He is helping others in need by donating his heart, lungs and kidney to save another’s life.”

Worksafe and WA Police are investigating the incident.

Acting Police Commissioner Col Blanch said it was a strong reminder that workplaces and worksites were dangerous places, especially for children.

“The investigation will focus on the security of that place and how those kids got in there,” he said.
