From the Team...
What a month, with 623 new members coming online. This has been our biggest month by far and BIO now has over 2300 members available for you to connect with. For those of you who did not get a mention in this months list, we will be sure to include you next month. ( Sorry - we ran out of room!) The last few weeks have seen a slow down in some of our more prominent markets and general feedback is that most members are very thankful for the BER and Social Housing project initiatives. These projects are currently bridging the gap in a time that would have seen al ot of financial pressure placed on many organisations. The good news is that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Many of our members are reporting multiple projects in the final stages of approval and we look foward to seeing those filter through. Building Industry Online are very excited to announce our partnering with the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys Adopt-A-School program. Supporting the Cathedral Junior School [Townsville] and upcoming front rower, James Tamou. The objective of the program is to give schools in the local community an opportunity to utilise their 'adopted' Cowboy as a role model for their students. The programs allows for the Toyota Cowboys to get involved in curriculum activities, sporting clinics, presentation nights, school assemblies and a variety of other school community activities. Jimmy has this month signed a 3 year contract with the NQ Toyota Cowboys, we are very excited to have the kiwi export on board!
We will be holding our Townsville member function in June. If you are in the area, it is a great opportunity to network as well keep up to date with information vital to your industry. Current and future opportunities in the Townsville region are extensive and it because of this, Townsville will be the location for our first Charity Golf game in September. Held on Sunday, we have timed it to coincide with the Cowboys v Rooster match on the Saturday night and Jupiters Casino are proudly supporting our members with Accomodation( including game ticket) packages. Numbers will be limited so get in early to secure your place for a great weekend. Make the most of this opportunity to check out the region, network with your fellow members, take in a game and top it off with a round of golf!. As usual this month we are keeping you up to date with our system changes, industry updates, training opportunities and other industry events.

Communication System....Now Active! Supported by email, our secure Communication System ensures that you have a complete online track of all correspondace and actions between yourself and your project team members. Unread messages clearly display and you can use our filters to search by project, action, subject, key word and or member.
This feature is currently open for trial. If you do not have it activated on your profile, call us and we can establish it today. With this feature, your subcontractors, suppliers and consultants have access by default. To keep it active on your account after your trial period an introductory annual fee of $500.00 ( ex GST) will apply. Subcontractors / Suppliers/ Consultants - click through to the "Project Correspondence " link from within your project. You no longer have to worry about keeping track of BIO emails to ensure you have all of the information on hand to do the job. Submitting your quotes has now become even easier. Through the project correspondence link, attach your quote to your initial project request and click " Submit" Submitting your quotes through the system ensures that they are electronically filed by project and directly under your profile. You can be assured that your information will never be misplaced or lost within an overloaded email system.
Project Delegation Upgrade.
Our Builders profiles have unlimited "Project Delegation" ability. This means that your project team can always access the key contact, no matter what stage of the construction process you are in. To avoid confusion, we have upgraded this feature to ensure that all Project Updates or Notifications sent, only contain the contact information of the delegated individual. ( Estimator, Contracts Administrator or Project Manager).
Updates to your Preferred Team Members Screen. Your preferred team members screen is now more functional. Following up on a request from a few of our builders we have made the key contact names into active links. These links take you directly through to the full member profiles. In addition we have given you some keyword filters to bring up Company contact details quickly and easily.... Thanks for your feedback!. |

Where's the Project I've just been notified about? I have been notified about a project by email but when I log on and go to Projects the system says "no projects found"?
All initial project notifications go to your BIO "inbox" which you will be able to find by clicking the link that says "You have mail". From here you are able to click on the project title to preview the project.
To be able to view all the documents, you will need to accept the project to drop it into your "Projects" screen.
Please note: You will not be added to the project or have access to builders updates, filtering, multiple download or external printing facilities if you do not accept interest and access the information from your "My Projects" screen.
Downloading/Viewing Project Documents....
We have simplified accessing Project Documents...
When you are in the "PROJECTS" section of your BIO profile, click on the "TITLE" (project title) and a pop-up will automatically open to the Document Management screen, where you can download/view/print the documents you require.

DIP will be holding Free Building and Plumbing Seminars accross the State in June. Building Sessions will cover a wide range of recent and proposed reforms, including:
- 6-star housing, electricity sub-metering, ban the banners, sustainability declaration, end-of-trip facilities - fire safety – maintenance, residential care, budget accommodation
- noise code for transport noise corridors
- temporary accommodation buildings (where applicable)
- swimming pool safety
- Sustainable Planning Act 2009 and recent Building Act 1975 changes
- Plumbing Industry Council
- building and development committees.
New Penalty Infringement Notices for Plumbing and Drainage Offences.
New Penalty Infringement Notices (PINs) for plumbing and drainage offences have been included in the State Penalties Enforcement Regulation 2000.
The Plumbing and Drainage Act 2002 (PDA) and the Standard Plumbing and Drainage Regulation 2003 (SPDR) have 76 offence provisions. Departmental officers appointed as investigators to the Plumbing Industry Council can issue PINs for four of these offences. Local government officers can issue PINs for 11 offences.
PINs are a cost effective way of dealing with noncompliance to protect public health, safety and the environment. PINs also enable matters to be dealt with quickly without burdening the court system. Offences range from 1 penalty unit to 1665 units. One penalty unit is currently $100.
