Some very important legislative changes are coming that will have significant impact on the cost of many development projects. It is important to read though our industry updates. As usual this month we are keeping you up to date with our system changes as well as introducing a new section of "Helpful Hints" and suggestions. Project Delegation Upgrade.
Our Builders profiles have unlimited "Project Delegation" ability. This means that your project team can always access the key contact, no matter what stage of the construction process you are in. To avoid confusion, we have upgraded this feature to ensure that all Project Updates or Notifications sent, only contain the contact information of the delegated individual. ( Estimator, Contracts Administrator or Project Manager).

Builders & Project Managers - Have you ever thought of creating a Document Distribution List?
As the industry starts to get busier your key subbies and suppliers will require more of their time on site. Supply the information in a simple format to help them to find the documents required, fast!.
An easy way to achieve this through BIO is to create a document distribution list. With some simple formatting - [ separating document titles with a (+) ] your project team members can "cut and past" the list to instantly filter out the documents they need.

Make the most of this feature and reduce your administration load. To assist with contract compliance, upload copies of your insurance and work cover certifications as well as copies of your confirmation of Code Compliance and / or other licenses. Your Builders are able to access this information and use it to assess your suitability to their projects requirements. Make the most of this feature today. Better Building Seminar - 6th May - Bundaberg & Wide Bay The Building Services Authority (BSA) and Construction Skills Queensland will hold a Better Building Super Show from 12 - 6pm at the Boat Club in Urangan on 6 May. Run in the afternoon, the show will cover common technical defects and applicable standards and regulations and give demonstrations of best practice construction methods for concreting, brick and block laying, timber decks and window and door installations. There will also be a session to introduce recently licensed builders and contractors and final year apprentices to the building industry. Queensland's implementation of energy efficiency requirements from 1 May, 2010. On the 25 March 2010, Queensland Government confirmed it will adopt the 6-star energy equivalence housing standard from 1 May 2010. The draft QDC provisions were posted on the department's website on 13 April 2010. These provisions will take effect from 1 May 2010 .
Building and Other Legislation Bill 2010, swimming pool safety guidelines and regulatory impact statement.
The Building and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2010 has been introduced into Parlimant outlining further proposals to new pool safety laws for public comment.
Important Information - Roof Insulation The government is creating the Home Insulation Program Review Office to handle all insulation complaints and deal with risks created by unscrupulous operators. People can contact it by calling 1800 808 571.
Rectification of Building Work ( The Defects Policy) - New Board Policy
A new Board Policy on the rectification of defective building work came into force on 12 March 2010. The new policy clarifies what BSA considers to be defective building work and reinforces the need for contractors to comply with the requirements of all relevant building regulations (Building Codes Australia, Australian Standards, manufacturer installation instructions) in any work preformed. There is also significant change in relation to contractor responsibilities in situations where subsidence to a residential building occurs.
