WHEN one door closes, another one opens – and for Cornett’s Supa IGA Supermarket the new door will reveal a bigger, fresher and brighter million expansion, shopping experience through Caneland Central’s $210 million expansion. |

The store is one of several short-term casualties during the major redevelopment, with Muffin Break, Rainbow Nails, Tandy and The Bag Shop also closing until the expansion is completed next year, according to Caneland Central manager Phil Martin. Pillow Talk, Flowers from Lisa’s and Allphones were relocating to other sites in the centre during the expansion, Mr Martin said. Cornetts Supa IGA Supermarket owner Derek Cornett said some employees would be relocated to his Sarina store during the expansion, which would increase the Caneland Central shop’s size by 25 per cent. “We could be closed for up to 12 months but we will reopen with a bigger, fresher, brighter store,” Mr Cornett said. “We will be starting to clear stock next week and will finally close about July 3, depending on sales. “We’ll be opening with a bigger, better, brighter store.” Pillow Talk visual
merchandising co-ordinator Jodie Hilton said the store was holding a sale, with
35 per cent off everything, before it moved this weekend. “We’re moving across from Priceline, at the Woolworths end (into the site where Caneland Music was),” Ms Hilton said. The temporary location was a
quarter of the size of the existing store, making it the smallest Pillow Talk
shop in The store would restrict
stock to bedroom and bathroom necessities, such as sheets, quilts, pillows and
quilt covers, until its new location was ready, she said. Caneland Central’s redevelopment, which is expected to be completed by sq m, sq m to 62,500 December next year, will expand it from 39,000 adding 100 specialty shops and a Myer department store.
